I finally decided to learn flash lighting, otherwise known as strobe! I am taking a awesome workshop this coming weekend so I decided to get some gear to practice with. First, let me tell you about this awesome workshop! It's called <a href="http://www.lighting-essentials.com/">Lighing Essentials</a> and it is conducted nationwide by Don Giannatti! This will be my first prfessional workshop EVER! I can't wait to jump in and learn! It runs from Friday night to Sunday night. Nothin' but learning lights! So I will definately be letting you know how it goes next week. I also decided to join up with the Pro-Photographers over at PPA. Two big leaps for me. I am really excited about this. So here are a few pic of my niece (she was the only willing subject tonight) of some off camera strobe lighting. I was tipped off about this place and had to check it out for myself. Amazing!!! I met up with some workers who frequent there. They told me that the murals change constantly. As you can see from some of the pictures there are many layers to these murals. I think they are pretty cool and the kids doing these should be recognized for their talent. I will be watching over the course of months to see how they change. She is a darling little 2 year old I got the pleasure of photographing this week. We went to the playground out at Walnut Creek school to expend some energy! I know I did! My family and I ventured over to The Boom On The Bay at Erie's Liberty Park. For all of you who didn't go there, they had a Marine Corp Band under the tent and plenty of people! The band did a wonderful job <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">commemorating</span> this great country! Of course the festivities end with Fireworks! There were many boats out in the bay including the Brig Niagara. They shot 6 canons from the Brig at the end of the fireworks! It was a really a sight to see! Anyhow.....I was able to get a shoot in the other day at Presque Isle Beach in Erie, PA before the thunderstorms rolled in. The lighting was nice due to the storm rolling in. I applied some techniques to this photo here. I just love the feel of this. Yeah, that's my hubby and his little girl! She's getting so big now! I love the results you can get with Lightroom. I'm having a great time learning this craft. I just don't know why I didn't do it sooner. It's a very porwerful thing when you love what you do. I have been scoping out this place for about a week but <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">every time</span> I drove by there was a old fire smoldering in the back....kinda spooky! So that prevented me from stopping before. This was my third trip there and this time.....NO FIRE! So we invited ourselves to the front yard for a quick shoot. I went down to the local flower store and bought a few gerber dasies. Using window light and setting my WB to cloudy gave me this great shot! I hope you enjoy. </span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="color:#660000;">After my son came home from school, he couldn't stop talking about this secret trail that you can hike down the Lake Erie bluffs 600ft to the shore. I wouldn't let him go the other day because frankly it looks dangerous. So I sent my husband! He and the kids took the plunge down the trail while I sat in solitude above watching the sunset yet again. With camera in hand, I shot a few more. I just love this one. These are some photos of one of the houses she <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">remodeled</span> and staged for an immediate sale! I've been helping her out with her portfolio of her rooms. The others can be seen on my </span><a href="http://www.cheperformance.com/jdworek/ArchitecturalGallery/index.html"><span style="color:#660000;">Architectural page </span></a><span style="color:#660000;">here on my blog.<br />I can't stress enough how important it is to have some decent pictures of your house if you are trying to sell it. I have looked at some of the pictures the realtors have posted online and for the most part they not so good. It also helps tremendously to have your house staged for selling. That way when the photographer comes in to take the nice pictures the room is ready to be seen. You wouldn't want clutter lying around or any personal items when you take the pictures. Just a nice clean room with some well placed items. Even an empty house sells better when it's staged. I went out to Walnut Creek tonight just to catch some peaceful lights over the lake and capture this moment for all of you who might of missed it. As timin would have it, a big freight ship was passing by just as the sun met the horizon. Pretty cool. I got a great deal on a Fantom 1TB drive from Buy.com. This was a purchase that I was putting off for way too long. I also picked up Lightroom 2 from Adobe. I did the 30 day trial and found that I just can't live without this software. If you haven't tried it yet, do it! </span></div><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="color:#660000;">Me and my daughter, Ella had a nice time the other day enjoying the weather. We went down to Elk Creek and to a park that overlooks beautiful Lake Erie. Trying to scope out some nice locations to shoot at in the future. Let's cut to the chase shall we.....My niece, Lauren was visiting today and she volunteered to go on a little photo shoot with me. She makes a pretty good model. We went out to an old abandoned building not far from my house and was able to get some really cool backgrounds just using the one building. It had alot of different textures and colors. I thought "sure, that sounds exciting". How can you make a table exciting? Well, I went and took the pics. Luckly, I had been reading one of those photo books on composition just the other day. The principle I picked up from one exercise is that you need to take a picture of your subject from multiple viewpoints until you get what you want or until you learn to see the creative composition. I found myself taking pictures of this pretty cool looking table that lacked something. Then it dawned on me....that book, Jenn, get down and take a few from there. As I did I began to see some better composition choices. I was happy. I'm just getting started with my photography business and wanted to share with you some of my work. I thought a bog would be a good place to start. I have been taking pictures for a long time now but it wasn't until about a year ago that I decided to try and pursue this passion of mine. I am mostly self taught at this point. I was able to take a small class at the Erie Art Museum 2 winters ago that helped me get the basics applied. Erie doesn't offer much in the way of photography courses. So I have been going to the library and checking out books, staying up endless hours searching the interent and practicing!!!<br />I met up with a great interior designer who wanted to get a nice portfolio. She asked me if I could help her take some better quality photos of some of the rooms she had redecorated. I agreed to help out with what little knowledge I had and we were able to get some nice prints for her.<br />I have taken some nice pictures of friends, family and my travels that I wanted to share.
